Wind Energy Assosiation

Environmental Effects

A wind turbine does not cause many environmental effects since wind energy is a renewable source. Wind turbines create an extremely low amount of pollution when built due to the clearing of the land but once in motion the wind turbines do not cause any pollution which is a win win scenario. Although, there is a problem concerning some residents about the amount of land which wind turbines take up. Even thought this is a concern to some people, in our opinion we believe that we are using the land for a beneficial reason. If there weren’t wind turbines on the land there would be factories, homes and so on which damage the land but since there are wind turbines we are not damaging the environment as much. Also, near wind turbine there is often forest and trees for a purpose so this is beneficial for the future. The last environmental effect that wind turbines have is birds. When birds are flying over the land site they are hit which causes some birds to have injuries and/or die. Overall there are very few environmental effects but every system has a flaw and even though, the effects cause very little impact.

            Safety!!!!

Wind energy is one of the safest energy technologies around. It has been recorded that no member of the public has ever been injured during the normal operation of a wind turbine. The wind energy industry enjoys an outstanding health and safety record. In over 20 years of electricity generation with more than 100,000 renewable energy technologies, poses a very low risk to human beings. Many of the risks concerning the public are reduced by the steel towers (instead than open lattice towers), locking systems on doors, intruder alarms, and protective safety fencing around the area. Wind turbines don’t burn anything to generate electricity and therefore, produce no harmful emissions hazardous. Machines installed worldwide, no member of the public has ever been injured during the operation of a wind farm. The reality is that wind power, like most are safe to us.

How Practical It Is For Ontario

Wind energy is very practical for Ontario since we have very high wind currents and a lot of land space so we can produce a greater amount of energy. It may not seem like it yet but wind contributes much energy and we believe that if Canada focused towards wind that the technology would improve doubling the amount of energy created.
